Main Task codes and conventions of the front cover of a music magazine

  • The headline is usually one word or letters long, usually on the left, uses a unique font and is always the biggest font on the page
  • There is always a consistent colour scheme
  • The main image is of a band or singer; they look at the camera and do not usually smile as it conveys an attitude
  • Creative photography is used
  • A slightly lower camera angle gives the impression of the artist having a lot of power
  • There is usually smaller picture of performances or artists
  • A strip at the top or bottom lists additional information
  • The barcode is always on the bottom right corner
  • The barcode is always on the front this is because the back is used for adverts.
  • Puffs advertise "something for nothing"
  • They typography is either sans or serif.
  • There is always a price and issue date
